The bottom of the stone is damaged, with some of the inscription missing. What is clear is the following: "Sacred to the memory of Jeremiah Battam Pankhurst of this parish who died August 30th 1831 aged 47 years. Also Jeffey son of the above who died February 20th 1827 aged 3 years & 3 months. Leaving a widow & 8 children viz. Thomas, Betsey, Jeremiah, Ann, Alexander, Dilnot, Frediric & Edwin. Also of Ann ..................who died............."
