Ann and James lived in New York for a few years. Their son Thomas was born there and daughter Ann Jane. Back in Ireland by 1864 where their third child Mary Ann was born. Living Surrey England in 1866 where son Richard was born.

James married Anna Bloxholm on 6 Mar 1859 in St. Bridget, Dublin, Ireland. (Anna Bloxholm was born in 1840 in Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland, died on 22 Jul 1907 in Kalamunda, Kalamunda City, Western Australia, Australia and was buried in East Perth Cemetery, Western Australia.)
